This program is a one year post doctoral training program structured to develop technical skill and a commitment to clinical excellence. Our goal is to foster a lifetime commitment to learning, leadership and professional service for the betterment of dentistry and oral health in the state of Georgia. Our resident dentists have distinguished themselves in their undergraduate and doctoral training and wish to go further.
The Athens GPR is affiliated with Piedmont Athens Regional and residents will provide dental services to special needs patients in the OR there under general anesthesia. They will also have rotations in the Emergency Department and the Anesthesia Department.
Residents will receive advanced training in all facets of implant dentistry.
Residents will receive training in IV conscious sedation.
The residents will gain experience caring for those with medical compromising conditions or severe systemic illness.
The residents will provide comprehensive general dental services to their patients. They will receive advanced training in the treatment of occlusal pathology and TMJ disorder. Moreover, they will learn the principles of complex rehabilitation with fixed and removable prostheses.
